The FILM TO SEE in 2013 || STOKER
My disappointment with the film Hitchcock (2012) knows no bounds with its: forced and shallow psychological characterizations, an unnecessary and distracting sub-plot, a shameful lack of cinematic flare given the subject matter and six-too-many profile shots of Hopkins showcasing his newly applied prosthetic girth - we get it, enough already. Poor Alma. Poor Hitch.
I loved the opening title sequence of David Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. But it reminded me of the lost art of title sequences….which brings me to Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo - opening title sequence by the master Saul Bass. Pure Hallucinatory Genius.
RUN TIPPI RUN.
Note to self: only go out with people named Tipsy, I mean, Tippi. It’s going to be a lonely 2012.
What’s the name of that pudgy, annoying, unhinged, yet rather clever British fellow. No, not Ricky Gervais? Starts with an ‘A’ and ends with a piercing scream?
